Nice surprise at the start of the Vendée Globe, Justine Mettraux suffered damage which will deprive her of a headsail until the end of the race.
This is the tile for Justine Mettraux. The Swiss suffered damage in recent hours, and was in 13th place in the rankings this Wednesday.
The skipper of TeamWork Team Snef confirmed the loss of her J0, a headsail, which was torn. A damage which would be unrelated to the repair carried out the day before on this same sail.
One sail less for Mettraux
Justine Mettraux had to fight to recover her sail, which was partly submerged. She achieved this, at the cost of great effort, without damaging her keel or her faiths. “The Swiss skipper was able to bring the sail, halyard and sheets on board, without any additional damage to the structure and appendages of the boat and will now have to deal with the remaining sail clearance”indicate the organizers.
Unfortunately for her, this J0 (pronounced: J-Zero) is now unusable. While she is currently sailing in the South Atlantic, en route to the Cape of Good Hope, Justine Mettraux will have to continue her world tour with the set of sails that remain at her disposal.
