Cameroon: FIFPro disavows Eto’o

The International Federation of Professional Footballers’ Associations (FIFPRO) has honored Geremi Njitap, a few weeks after his ouster from the Cameroonian Federation (Fecafoot) by President Samuel Eto’o.

Excluded from Fecafoot unanimously by the executive committee of the body (Comex), the National Footballers’ Union Cameroonian (Synafoc) and its president Geremi Njitap was distinguished by FIFPro. Indeed, this Tuesday in Bali, Indonesia, the union was awarded “the prize for the most impactful and inspiring union action of the year 2024 with its Salary Barometer”informed Synafoc in a press release.

FIFPro ridicules Eto’o

This is the salary barometerwhich allows us to take stock of the good and bad paying clubs which owe late salaries to players, which allowed the former side of the Real Madrid to get ahead of its competitors from Greece and Portugal. A recognition that is revealing to say the least, tending to ridicule Samuel Eto’o, whose the relationship with his ex-national team partner, Geremi, has turned from cold to polar in recent years.

Indeed, the relationship between the two men, once united at the time of Eto’o’s accession to the presidency of Fecafoot, has deteriorated significantly. And this, until reaching, in all likelihood, the point of no return on November 15 with the withdrawal of the approval conferring on Synafoc the status of member of Fecafoot.

Instead, the Comex voted unanimously to incorporate the National Association of Footballers of Cameroon (Anfc) chaired by Lucien Metomo, an Eto’o supporter.
