The Moroccan Prison Observatory “OMP” is organizing a press conference to present its report on “the situation of prisons and detainees in Morocco for the year 2023”, as part of the “Strengthening the “Rule of law and respect for human rights in Morocco, guaranteeing access to justice and economic and social rights for all as well as the protection of civic space”, carried out in partnership with Lawyers Without Borders ( ASF).
This report published annually by the OMP aims to take stock of the prison and penal situation at different levels, to measure the level of achievement of Morocco’s commitments in terms of implementing penal and prison reforms in accordance with the international standards, ratified conventions and the provisions of the Constitution in this area, to highlight dysfunctions and to engage in dialogue with the authorities concerned for the adoption of laws and measures guaranteeing the protection and respect of human rights and there dignity of detainees, humanization of detention conditions and improvement of the level of reintegration.
