Aaron Rodgers has denied rumors that he would like to continue his career next season, but he would like to play for an NFL team other than the New York Jets.
During his appearance Tuesday on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the veteran quarterback indicated that he simply had not yet decided whether 2024 was going to be his last year and that he would retire after that. He pushed the thinking a little further on the show, wanting to prove that what had come out on his account was false.
“I haven’t talked to anyone around me that I would like to play in 2025 or that it wouldn’t be with the Jets. So it’s 100% false,” the quarter said.
“I actually said the opposite, that I was going to wait and see at the end of the season, and if they want me back. We have to see what happens with the interim coach (Jeff Ulbrich), the offensive staff, and obviously the general manager, as they just fired Joe (Douglas). There are many elements out of my control, but I really love my time in New York. »
He followed up a little later by ending an answer with this sentiment: “I don’t know yet if I want to play, but New York would be my first option.”
Back after his injury which sidelined him last season, Rodgers and the Jets are far from having the campaign they hoped for. The New York team has only three wins in 12 games.
The 40-year-old quarterback threw 17 touchdown passes, but was the victim of seven interceptions. He amassed 2,442 passing yards in 11 games.
