“He is exactly where he was a year ago”: Slafkovsky’s progress worries

After an encouraging start to the season, where he posted a production of almost a point per game, Juraj Slafkovsky is experiencing difficult times these days.

The Montreal Canadiens’ Slovakian forward has only amassed three points in his last eight games, so he has been relegated to the club’s fourth line with Kirby Dach and Joel Armia.

And after signing an eight-year, $60.8 million contract with the CH this summer, many anticipated a more marked progression in his case.

“He is exactly where he was a year ago,” said Jean-Charles Lajoie to JiCbroadcast on TVA Sports, Tuesday.

Above all, the 20-year-old athlete has only scored one small goal since the start of the year.

“The “one goal in 17 games”, I must admit that it bothers me, retorted Tony Marinaro. He has the same number of goals as the goalkeeper [Wild] you Minnesota.”

The two speakers therefore wondered why the Canadian did not wait longer before offering the winger a golden bridge? The answer is rather simple, if Marinaro is to be believed.

« [Le Canadien] “I think that towards the end of his contract, Slafkovsky will be the best player in the team,” he said.

“And [le Canadien] “I think this guy is the best player on the team is because he thinks he won’t make the playoffs for a long time,” Lajoie replied.
