In recent months, OM has entered a new era, with on paper a project for a minimum of three years which must be launched on the sidelines by Roberto De Zerbi. The Italian technician, whom Pablo Longoria and Medhi Benatia managed to convince, must now put his game plan in place. But it takes a little time.
Marseille players are currently struggling to apply the principles of possession and imbalance dear to De Zerbi, which gives uneven results but also its share of criticism. Raymond Domenech, the former coach of the France team, has not spared the OM coach in recent hours.
De Zerbi showed nothing according to him
According to him, Roberto De Zerbi has not shown enough convincing things for the moment on the Marseille bench. “When the opponent, like Montpellier or Lyon, opens the game, Marseille gets carried away. But when they meet more compact teams, like Auxerre, it's another problem. If the opponent closes the game, (Roberto) De Zerbi does not seem capable of providing a real solution. I didn't see that De Zerbi was capable of demonstrating anything, his game, there is nothing and they are caught on the counter. (…) They won two matches against Brest and Montpelier, Brest was on the street (…). They don't win on mastery of the game. Against Lens, if there's no foul it makes 2-2,” declared the former OL and Blues coach.
