John Textor, the owner of OL, has just announced the upcoming signing of a world champion for his club.

There’s no smoke without fire. OL has indeed obtained the services of young Argentinian midfielder Thiago Almada. This left winger will arrive from Atlanta United very soon.

It was John Textor, the owner of the club himself, who announced the good news to the Rhone fans. “Thiago was recruited by our staff in France. Big clubs wanted him. We intercepted him and convinced him that he could come to Eagle and that we would take him to Europe.”

OL overtook OM

This transfer cost Lyon €19.6 million, with bonuses of up to €3.7 million. The player trained at Velez Sarsfield (23 years old), selected for the Olympic Games in France, will first spend six months at Botafogo to finish the Brazilian season there, before arriving in Lyon at the beginning of January.

As a reminder, a few months ago, Marseille was also tracking this Albiceleste international. But, this interest never materialized into an offer. And so it was the other Olympique who won the bid.

Lyon is starting to strengthen its attacking side. Before Thiago Almada, the recent Coupe de France finalist had exercised the purchase option for the permanent transfer of Algerian Said Benrahma.
