Alpine continues to rebuild itself little by little, after the various earthquakes that have shaken the French team in recent months. After settling the future of its two drivers, with the extension of Pierre Gasly and the non-renewal of Esteban Ocon, then after announcing the return of Flavio Briatore as executive advisor, the A fléché continues to strengthen its technical department.

The arrival of David Sanchez last May accelerated the recruitment of several engineers at Enstone. This week, the French clan registered the arrival of three new faces, three important engineers from top teams. Among its three new recruits, two have already held a position at Enstone.

Three major recruits at Alpine

The first of these is Michael Broadhurst, who joins Alpine as chief aerodynamicist. The engineer spent seven years at Enstone between 2009 and 2016, before joining McLaren and then Red Bull in 2021 as the Austrian team’s lead aerodynamicist. Broadhurst has been a key part of Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s world titles in recent seasons.

The second is Vin Dhanani, who is also returning to Enstone after working for Renault and then Lotus between 2006 and 2011. The Briton then joined Sauber and then Red Bull in 2020, first as head of suspension systems and then as head of single-seater performance. He joins Alpine in a similar position to the one he previously held at Milton Keynes.

The third and final major recruit, meanwhile, will discover the Enstone facilities. Jacopo Fantoni joins the A fléché as deputy chief engineer. Arriving at the Scuderia in 2011, the Italian spent his entire career in Formula 1 with Ferrari, where he was responsible for the simulation group and worked with David Sanchez for several years.

The trio started work at Enstone today, 1st July, and are part of Alpine’s three-pillar technical structure, which focuses on aerodynamics, performance and engineering. Michael Broadhurst will report to David Wheater (Technical Director, Aerodynamics), Vin Dhanani to Ciaron Pilbeam (Technical Director, Performance) and Jacopo Fantoni to Joe Burnell (Technical Director, Engineering). All will report to David Sanchez.
