Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon once again battled it out at the Red Bull Ring, even coming into contact (photo above), but only the former took home a single point: a meager haul!

There was no boasting in the French team at the end of this Austrian Grand Prix which saw the two drivers compete again very (too?) virilely to enter the top 10 and score points.

Team principal Bruno Famin wanted to see the glass half full thanks to Gasly’s tenth place point, but the harvest could have been much more successful.

Haas has passed in front

Haas F1 Team pulled off a nice group shot in Spielberg and the American team took advantage to overtake Alpine in the constructors’ standings.

“We will be satisfied with this point and our fourth top 10 in a row, declared the boss. This shows that we are more and more consistent on the different circuits. We continue to be more confident with our package and this motivates us to attack and add more and more performance to the car. We will approach the races one after the other, focusing on ourselves and I am very happy with our current trajectory. Now it’s Silverstone’s turn!”

400 points for Gasly!

“This now makes four consecutive points finishes and the 400th point of my Formula 1 career, Pierre congratulated himself. It was a satisfying day in that respect, but we will make sure to analyse the race in detail to improve.. We were always in the game.”

“My start was improvable, and we did our best to come back afterwards. I think the two Haas were slightly quicker than us and I ended up in a close battle with Daniel Ricciardo. It was complicated though as we were in the middle of a DRS train.”

At home in Silverstone

“We had a very good start, exactly what we needed to overtake Nico Hulkenberg on the first lap, Esteban testified. He came back in front a few laps later, but we stayed in touch during the first stint. The battle was going to be strategic but we weren’t fast enough to fight for track position and we got caught in traffic after our pit stops.”

“We had a better pace earlier in the weekend, so we will obviously analyse all of that in detail to improve, he added. We will finish this sequence of three consecutive races next weekend at Silverstone where I hope we will put in a good performance for the team’s home race.”
