The Red Devils will therefore not go any further in this Euro 2024. The national team was eliminated by France after another painful defeat, suffered in Düsseldorf against the French team. A real blow for some of our most experienced players, who will not have been able to take the new generation further in a major tournament. At least, not this time.
The question therefore arises as to the future of certain players. Will Vertonghen, Lukaku and De Bruyne, at 37, 31 and 33 years old respectively, hang up their boots with the national team after this difficult journey? Nothing is impossible, according to De Bruyne, who admits that he will have to think about it.
