Curwin Bosch: “I am sure the team will do what it takes to return to the Top 14”

Who says new season, says new players. Brive will still be in Pro D2 but wants to do better than the previous season. For this, the CAB will seek to rely on its new players to bring that something that was missing a few weeks ago. Among the new arrivals, we find Curwin Bosch.

Each season, the wish of CAB supporters was the recruitment of a 10. It is true that it has been a while since a player, in this position, has stirred up the crowds for a long period of time. This season, Brive recruited Curwin Bosch to fill this position. Hoping the graft takes.

Curwin Bosch has set down his bags in Brive for a few days and is taking the opportunity to introduce himself and show his ambitions for the coming season.

Rugby is in the Bosch family DNA. It was therefore quite natural that Curwin took his first steps in this sport. Like everyone else, he grew up with role models. Among his role models, we find a certain… Dan Carter. A quality model when playing as an opener.

Dan Carter was one of my role models growing up. I always liked the way he played, as a player I admired for the way he behaved on the field and I really appreciated the way he saw the game and played it.

Even though many matches are now available and visible to many people, many CAB supporters must be asking themselves the question about the style of the new CAB fly-half.

I’m a very instinctive player. I like to go out there and play with what I see in front of me. I like to run with the ball. I also have a very good foot game. But I think what makes me come alive on a rugby pitch is the movement game. I’m looking forward to getting started with the team and hopefully we can show the fans some beautiful, fast play.

A fairly precocious player, he quickly represented South Africa at youth level, notably during the U20 world championship. Later, he became international and had the chance to wear the Springboks jersey. An even greater honor since it was done in his hometown of Port Elizabeth and in front of his family. He hopes that one day he will be able to wear the national team jersey again.

Born in Port Elizabeth then having lived in recent years in Durban, Curwin Bosch will discover a new, smaller environment, but that doesn’t scare him. On the other hand, regarding the weather, you will have to tell him that it is not summer all year round!

I saw that it was a very small town but I really like it. I grew up in a very small town like Brive and I especially love the weather there. It’s very warm, which I also really like. I’m really excited to get to know everyone, the community, experience the culture here. I’m looking forward to learning the language too.

The South African, new CAB player, shows ambition and, after having experienced French rugby via the Champions Cup (quarter-final in 2023 against Toulouse), has a strong desire to play in the Top 14.

I want to give 100% to the club. I think I was given the opportunity to come and discover rugby in Europe. For me it’s just about giving 100% during the week and the match. I hope we can play well as a team. I’m very excited to meet everyone and see everyone at the stadium. I hope we can give the fans a lot to cheer about as the season progresses. I am sure that the team will be able to do what it takes to return to the Top 14.
