The Canadian is not a big player in the autonomy market. As expected!

Even if Alex Barré-Boulet is in town (we’ve already told you that the club wants its depth to be guys from Quebec, if possible?), it’s not the big names that the CH is clinging to.

But via transaction? That’s something else.

According to David Ettedgui, the Canadian is active in the case of the man who, at the last news, was still in the NHL’s aid program. There is still gymnastics to be done, added the former agent.

That’s interesting.

As the CH is full defensively speaking and the needs are on the attack, one can wonder if the Blue Jackets would not be interested in one of the CH’s defenders.

In an ideal world, they would be interested in Joel Armia and Christian Dvorak, but hey.

Laine makes $8.7 million per year through 2026. Columbus is expected to retain some salary, but he remains a talented player who could resurface under Martin St. Louis and his team.

Will this acquisition, which would tick all the boxes for the Canadiens, come to fruition? We’ll see.

Remember that with Sean Monahan being in Columbus, this opens the door even more to a transaction. Laine wants to leave and the gamble is surely worth it for the CH.

Why not? It’s not like Columbus could be greedy…
