the date of the list for the 2024 Olympics revealed! (official)

This Monday, the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced the date of the announcement of the list of players selected by Tarik Sektioui, the coach of the Morocco U23s, for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

If the list must reach FIFA no later than Wednesday July 3, the technician will not reveal his choices publicly until the next day, Thursday July 4, during a press conference scheduled for 5 p.m. (GMT+1, i.e. 6 p.m. in France) in Salé, indicated the FRMF. If the players called up have not yet been revealed, it is undoubtedly because many European teams are reluctant to let their elements participate, the competition not taking place on FIFA dates, which represents a a real headache for the technician.

We can nevertheless identify
the big trends from this upcoming list. Ez Abde, the most experienced player of this generation, should normally be there, with Betis Seville showing themselves to be open. The same goes for Monaco attacking midfielder Eliesse Ben Seghir, although he has never played for the U23s. For Parisian Achraf Hakimi, the trend is also favourable, with PSG agreeing to release him. Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou should also be part of the list of 3 jokers (players over 23 years old), with Al-Hilal having agreed to release him according to the latest reports (otherwise, Munir El Kajoui
stands ready). The last place should be played out between Youssef En-Nesyri, Sofyan Amrabat and Nayef Aguerd.

Tendu pour El Khanouss et Begraoui

On the other hand, things are looking complicated for Bilal El Khanouss. The KRC Genk midfielder is expected to change clubs and it is not at all certain that his new team will agree to let him leave for the
Olympic Games
. Same dilemma for Yanis Begraoui and Amine El Ouazzani, who have both just been transferred and signed in Portugal, respectively at Estoril and Braga. As a reminder, the Moroccan U23s will enter the competition against Argentina on July 24 at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Étienne, before challenging Ukraine on the 27th in the same stadium, then facing Iraq on the 30th at the Allianz Riviera in Nice.
