Arrived this winter for a six-month loan in LyonSaid Benrahma started 13 times and was decisive with 4 goals and 3 assists. Performances that succeeded in convincing the Lyon leaders who exercised the purchase option estimated at approximately €14.4 million with the West Ham club. Despite ups and downs with West Ham, the player has often been decisive with the London club. He notably played an important role in the Europa Conference League final won by the Hammers, where he converted a decisive penalty for the final victory. The Algerian international should now play for Lyon for the next three seasons, plus an optional year.

A recruit already confirmed for the winter transfer window

Although Lyon is focused on the summer transfer window, the club is already looking to the future. Next January, midfielder Thiago Almada is expected to join the club. The Argentina international is expected to be bought by Botafogo for an estimated €19.6m. As a reminder, Botafogo is a Brazilian club that also belongs to John Textor, the president of Lyon. Thiago Almada has started 16 times in 20 games for Atlanta. Although he has no experience on the European stage, the player is one of Argentina’s hopes. He is a creative midfielder who has been more than decisive over the last two MLS seasons (63 matches, 18 goals and 21 assists). Almada was even voted best player in the championship during the 2023 season, giving him a promising future on the Lyon side.

While waiting to see the player arrive in six months, Lyon, lacking creative players in midfield, will have to recruit a similar profile during the summer.
