Samuel Gigot is expected to leave OM this summer. A club had made an offer but a dramatic turn of events stopped the trail.
The divorce between Samuel Gigot and Olympique de Marseille has become inevitable. A great team had come forward for a transfer but a twist of fate has scuppered the possible transaction.
A Sport announces that Trabzonspor has withdrawn its offer because Gigot does not want to join the Turkish team. At the end of his contract in a year, the defender could have brought in a few million to Marseille’s coffers, useful for this summer transfer window.
In addition to Samuel Gigot, other departures are expected on the Canebière. The Marseillais finished eighth in Ligue 1 last season and will not participate in any European competition. A real loss of earnings for OM, which must therefore reduce its payroll.
Roberto De Zerbi, who has just arrived on the Olympique bench, has already given his agreement for the arrival of two new players. Lillian Brassier from Brest for around 10 million euros and Ismaël Koné from Watford. The latter will join Marseille after the Copa América which he is playing with Canada.
