The drivers once again returned to the track, this time to compete in free practice 2. The first session was dominated by the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

An important factor this weekend, the track temperature during FP2 was even lower than in FP1, around 10°C in the air and 13°C on the ground. From the start of the session, the Mercedes showed themselves in good form again on this Las Vegas track, with George Russell going under minute 35.

Red Bull, which arrived in Las Vegas with a very loaded car, seems to be in difficulty. Max Verstappen was initially forced to settle for an eighth time at the start of the session.

Once the drivers switched to soft tires, the times obviously dropped. George Russell clocked 1'34″015. His garage neighbor, Lewis Hamilton seemed more behind at this point in the session. Meanwhile, Alexander Albon was stuck in his pit, the fault of a fuel system problem on his Williams.

As Lando Norris took the lead in the time classification, the red flags were displayed, the fault of Williams stopped on track.

Twenty minutes from the end of the session, Lewis Hamilton positioned himself at the top of the time rankings with a time of 1'33″825. At this point in the session, the top 10 consisted of Norris, Russell, Sainz, Leclerc, Gasly, Piastri, Hülkenberg, Magnussen and Tsunoda. You had to take a look at the 15th and 17th places in the ranking to see the names of Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez appear.

At the checkered flag, Lewis Hamilton once again set the best time, followed by Lando Norris and George Russell. Pierre Gasly, for his part, achieved the sixth best time.
