Erling Haaland, very valuable since his arrival at Manchester City in 2022 through his contribution in goals in particular, would currently be the absolute priority of his club. According to the tabloid The Sun, the reigning champion of the English championship would like to move up a gear to extend the player’s contract until 2029.
The serial scorer (105 goals in 114 appearances with City) currently receives 450,000 euros per week, or almost 22 million euros per year, without bonuses. If he accepts the offer from the club’s management, he could earn 100 million pounds (116 million euros) in all of his remaining contract, still without performance-related bonuses, which could further inflate this astronomical sum.
This news comes at a time when the 24-year-old is the subject of transfer rumors, notably to FC Barcelona. Furthermore, in recent statements, the Norwegian has linked his future to that of Pep Guardiola, emphasizing his importance in his success. The Catalan coach would also be close to an extension until 2027, according to The Atletic.
Upon his arrival in 2022 at Manchester City, Haaland managed to win a resounding treble with his club in his first year (Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup). The Citizens confirmed the following year by retaining their title of champion of England.
Incidentally, the striker won the English Golden Boot twice in two seasons spent in England. He is on track to lift it a third time with 12 goals scored in 11 appearances.
