In the NHL, Minnesota Wild player Mats Zuccarello is out for about a month due to a ruptured testicle that occurred in the middle of a match.
“The poor guy was hit where the sun doesn’t shine.” This is how Marcus Foligno described the injury to his teammate Mats Zuccarello, forward for the Minnesota Wild in the North American ice hockey championship (NHL).
The 37-year-old Norwegian player suffered a ruptured testicle after being hit in the middle of the match by the puck on an opponent’s shot. It was November 15 against the Montreal Canadiens (3-0 victory for Minnesota).
“It was hilarious”
An injury that can be scary, but which makes Marcus Foligno laugh. “We thought he was going to lose one ball, but it actually survived, and he still has both. (…) He can’t even lift anything. It was hilarious. It’s still funnier afterwards, now that he is well,” he joked, according to comments reported by local media.
Although the injury was not very serious, Mats Zuccarello had to undergo surgery. His team must do without him for three or four weeks. “I don’t know exactly,” coach John Hynes said of his time out.
Mats Zuccarello has been playing for the Minnesota Wild since 2019, after spending time with the New York Rangers and the Dallas Stars.
