After the match against Beerschot, Hein Vanhaezebrouck was not kind to some Club Bruges executives. Simon Mignolet reacted to these statements.
During their trip to Beerschot, Club Brugge let a 0-2 lead slip away after just a quarter of an hour of play. An unnecessary loss of points, according to Hein Vanhaezebrouck.
“Vanaken, Mechele and Mignolet lack leadership,” said the analyst. A statement he had already made earlier this season.
Simon Mignolet does not really agree with these comments, as he explained in a long interview with the Newspaper of West Flanders. “I understand why he makes this reasoning. Because from the outside, we quickly draw this conclusion,” he declared.
However, Vanhaezebrouck does not see what is happening internally. “Now, it’s one person’s word against the other’s, it’s an opinion that is not supported. Hein has never set foot inside the Club, except when matches with La Gantoise, of course”.
“I also have my opinion on the possible reasons for this alleged lack of mentality. And what needs to change. But I am not going to discuss this in the newspaper. And even saying it, it does not prove that what I say is true”, concludes Mignolet, quite a good player.
