Hit in the ribs, the captain of Bayern Munich is uncertain to face Augsburg at the opening of the 11th day of the German championship.
Bayern Munich goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer is doubtful to face Augsburg on Friday (8:30 p.m.) at the opening of the 11th day of the German championship, four days before hosting Paris SG in the Champions League.
During Bayern’s training on Wednesday on the Säbener Strasse pitch, Manuel Neuer felt “a pinch in his ribs”, explained Bayern coach Vincent Kompany on Thursday at a press conference.
“It’s still a little early, because we train this afternoon. We hope he can still start the match tomorrow. We have to wait and see how things go in training,” added the Belgian.
Neuer’s backup in Bayern’s goals, Sven Ulreich is also absent, for personal reasons. “We assume that ‘Manu’ will be able to be present. If not, Daniel Peretz will play tomorrow. We have no doubt, he was very good with the selection,” underlined Kompany.
Israeli international (4 caps) since November 2022, Daniel Peretz (24 years old) shone last week in the Nations League against France (0-0) and Belgium (1-0 victory).
Arriving at Bayern in the summer of 2023 from Macabi Tel Aviv, Peretz only played one German Cup match and only came on for the last quarter of an hour of the penultimate Bundesliga matchday against Wolfsburg last season. This season he has not played yet.
After receiving Augsburg on Friday, Bayern will play three matches in seven days against Paris SG in the Champions League (Tuesday), in Dortmund against Borussia in the league (Saturday, November 30) and against Leverkusen (Tuesday, December 3) in Round of 16 of the Cup.
