One thing is certain, the Saumur triathlon team is keeping up the pace. An Olympic sport present on the banks of the Seine this summer in Paris, the triathlon continues its good development in Saumur (Maine-et-Loire). Proof of this is that, for the third year in a row, the club has more than a hundred members. A record since the development of the section in 2015.
Young people who matter
Accessible from 9 years old, the triathlon brings together around thirty children within the sports association. With its seven qualified coaches, the club received its very first label from the club’s youth section as an “FFTri triathlon school”. This label from the French Triathlon Federation rewards clubs having implemented teaching methods adapted to each age and each level, and having supervisors trained specifically in the practice of triathlon for young people.
specifies the Saumur club. The latter also saw this national recognition be renewed for this 2024-2025 season.
Present last year in local races, the licensees of the Saumur triathlon team did not hesitate to demonstrate their qualities at numerous national events (Alpe d’Huez triathlon, Ironman of Sables-d’Olonne, or the Alpsman in Annecy).
The second edition of the “Run and bike” fixed
The Saumur club took advantage of this general assembly to unveil the dates for the second edition of the “Run and bike”. This race to be run in pairs, with one of two bikes, will be held on Sunday March 23, 2025, from the village hall in Dampierre-sur-Loire. The two partners exchange the bike as they see fit, the goal being to cross the finish line together
remind the organizers. Last year, more than 200 participants took part in this new meeting. At the end of March, those registered will cross the paths of the Saumur-Champigny appellation, with two routes to choose from (8 or 15 km). Routes for the youngest will also be offered (6-9 years old and 10-13 years old).
