The movement of Montpellier supporters limited and supervised by a prefectural decree. The Loire Prefecture does not authorize no more than 300 MHSC supporters at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium on Saturday. They must be provided with vouchers, travel preferably by bus, mini-bus and be escorted by the police from a compulsory meeting point set on November 23 at 4:30 p.m. at the Saint -Romain-en-Gier (A47). Montpellier Hérault SC supporters will have to park their vehicles exclusively in the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium car park dedicated to visiting supporters.
Apart from this supervised trip, no supporter of the MHSC or behaving as such will be able to access the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, or even its surroundings. A security perimeter was put in place. In addition, the possession, transport and use of all pyrotechnic articles and any object that can be used as a projectile are prohibited within this perimeter, in the enclosure and around the stadium.
An old antagonism between the supporters of the two clubs
In its decree, the Prefecture considers that a “old antagonism exists between Saint-Etienne and Montpellier supporters with clashes and attempted clashes“. She recalls that the February 20, 2010 Montpellier supporters carrying weapons by destination were arrested at Saint-Étienne Bellevue station while they tried to circumvent the security system of the police.
