Can you not play a single minute and still be one of the highest paid players on your team? A Belgian player can answer this question in the affirmative.

While he thought he would get back on track after spending several seasons with very little playing time, things did not go as planned at all. And now he has completely disappeared from the team that hired him.

Paid not to play

Divock Origi joined AC Milan free of any contract. A club in which he has not played a single minute since May 28, 2023. Last season, he was loaned to Nottingham Forest, without further success.

The Devil had been criticized for the excess weight displayed and in any case he was never included in the plans. Nor does he fit into Milan’s plans. It was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who announced it last summer, explaining that he would be relegated to the youth ranks in the same way as Fodé Ballo-Touré.

Not in the project

Neither player was part of the Milan project, there was no reason to keep them in the professional group. But in the case of Origi, the problem is that he is one of the highest paid players on the team.

With an annual salary of 3.5 million euros, he even comes just behind Rafael Leão. A second place which impacts the payroll of the club, which seeks to get rid of its services. But selling a player who doesn’t play and who has significant salary ambitions is not easy. For the moment, no solution seems to present itself for Origi, who just has to be patient.
