Tunisian coach Kaïs Yaâkoubi did not mince his words towards Algeria yesterday at a press conference following the match on the sixth day of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Indeed, following Tunisia's defeat against Gambia (1-0), the coach of Eagles of Carthage explained at a press conference that his team was struggling to obtain positive results because of the lack of financial and logistical resources available to the Tunisian selection.
He then took a comparison with the Algerian selection which according to him would be in good shape thanks to dual nationals like Gouiri who would opt for Algeria in exchange for compensation:« Do you think that the dual nationals who join the Algerian selection, like Gouiri, come for free? A goalkeeper coach who did two CDM with Algeria told me incredible things ».
This revelation was made to him by a goalkeeping coach who was on the Algerian staff during two World Cups. Serious accusations against the Algerian Football Federation which would suppose that it would convince the players through financial means.
