Lhe 2023-2024 season of the Stade Montois Omnisports, which will hold its general meeting on Friday November 22 at 6:30 p.m., shows accounts in the green. The general president, Lionel Gaüzère, and the general director, Éric Saint-Martin, draw up an accounting balance sheet “surplus of 40,242 euros” for all 35 sections (for 6,250 licensees) which make up the Stade Montois Omnisports. Results made possible by the 66 employees employed by the structure, as well as the approximately 850 volunteers, “who have an enormous role in the life of the sections”. “We know how to add a little extra soul to make it work,” says Lionel Gaüzère. We manage to bring together 400 volunteers on a Sunday for the marathon. Few structures are capable of doing this. »
Several sections of the Stade Montois Omnisports have seen their number of licensees skyrocket. This is the case for table tennis, which increased this number by 30%. But also BMX, handball, swimming, athletics, and even judo. “What is missing now are niches and structures,” explain the leaders. The medals won by France at the last Olympic Games may not have had nothing to do with it.
102,000 euros loss for football
Stade Montois football is a bad student among the sections. With a loss of 102,000 euros and relegation to Regional 2 to end the 2023-2024 season. The objective this year will be to succeed in “regaining dynamism among the volunteers”, indicates the president of the omnisports, who also hopes for suitable results, despite a lower budget than previous seasons. “The club needs to find stability,” adds Éric Saint-Martin. The section went from 440 to 420 members at the start of the season.
A new “self-financed” headquarters
After the Luis-Ocaña velodrome last year and the synthetic turf of the André-Boniface stadium, 2025 will see the birth of several projects under construction: the covering of two tennis courts at La Hiroire for a budget of 800,000 euros, financed by amount of 50,000 euros by the club; the construction of a new head office in Boniface, with an area of 200 square meters. “In April 2025, the new headquarters, which we finance 100%; will be ready. It’s still a purchase of 600,000 euros from the City,” explains Éric Saint-Martin.
The structure also hopes, in the coming years, to build a new hall for the Stade Montois handball, which plays “on a field that is not up to standard”, despite the accession to Nationale 2 of its women’s team. “Covering the padel courts” at the Stade Montois tennis padel is also being studied.
The Stade Montois omnisports organizes several events during the year, such as the ninth edition of the “Sud Ouest” Mounride, “already in preparation” and which will take place on 1is June 2025, or the eighth edition of the Marathon des Landes, on October 12. The pre-pasport system continues for the eighth year. It supports young people for six months and allows their reintegration through sport. More than 250 people have already been supported. Finally, the health sports system on prescription makes it possible to monitor an annual average of 150 people.
