Property of the Bordeaux town hall, the Château du Haillan and its surroundings had been made available to the club by the city. An occupation agreement that has become obsolete since the bankruptcy filing led to the fall of the football team that wears the scapular.
At the town hall, the desire to soften as much as possible the fall of the Girondins de Bordeaux is displayed. However, the football club relegated to national 2 in July has renounced its professional status and filed for bankruptcy. More than three quarters of its hundred employees have been covered by a social plan since October. A reduction in staff numbers and a change of status which renders the temporary occupancy agreement granted to the club by the town hall obsolete. This agreement, which allowed the Girondins de Bordeaux to use the Château du Haillan and two surrounding areas for the modest sum of 16,000 euros per year, must therefore be renegotiated.
“No decision has been made. That would be hasty, immediately wants to reassure Mathieu Hazouard, the deputy mayor of Bordeaux in charge of sports. For the moment, we are reinforcing the sporting dimension of the premises and we are considering transitional arrangements. The management of infrastructure dedicated to the practice of amateur football in the Haillan plain has therefore been taken over by the town hall. The professional space, which is the subject of a long administrative lease for a symbolic euro until 2060, is still available to the scapular club. This is the question of the use of the castle and its surroundings, which must be resolved by the end of November.

The club only has 10 employees left and it closes its budgets to the nearest euro.explains Mathieu Hazouard.
In other words, the Girondins employees still on site should soon share the premises. A necessary development according to the town hall which insists on its desire to “find a good balance to strengthen the club without costing the city”. Contacted, the Girondins de Bordeaux have not responded to our requests for the moment. As for the two adjoining football fields, the situation has already been regularized. The city’s infrastructure is rented for 80 euros per hour for each Girondins de Bordeaux training session.
