A start of collaboration between USAP and Japan

This is a first partnership that has been signed between USAP and Japan. The women’s USAP has established serious contact with the Tokyo club Sankyu Phenix. This club is exclusively feminine and last season won the second national title in its history. It’s the best club in Japan. Its management contacted the USAP a year ago with the aim of getting closer to a French women’s club.

The president of the women’s USAP, Aurore Andrieu-Sagols explains: “The Tokyo Phenix club has a great desire to invest in girls and it is its leaders who directly contacted the USAP with the desire to create a partnership. It is the first women’s club in Japan and it wants to grow further. Between now and January, three Japanese players will complete our squad for several months. I think that the club wants its players to learn other playing techniques and in particular that of the south of which is necessarily rougher than that of avoidance practiced in Japan.”

The USAP is supporting the women’s USAP in this start of the partnership and will cover the accommodation and transport of the three players who will wear the blood and gold colors until the end of the season. In this first collaboration, there is the hope of creating others between the Catalan club and Japan, whether sporting or especially economic.

The USAP should make it official by the end of the season a partnership with the Tokyo club Shimizu Blue Sharks. Perhaps as early as next summer, the Catalan club and the Japanese club could carry out discussions on techniques and play, in forms that still need to be refined. The main shareholder of this Tokyo club, GM Shimizu, is one of the five largest construction companies in Japan. Its general director – Takikawa Hirokazu – was at the Aimé-Giral stadium during the match against , alongside the president of the Tokyo Phenix club.
