CAF plans to abandon Morocco!

Algeria – The organization of the 2025 African Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) is going through a major crisis. The secretary general of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) recently announced that the country designated to host this edition, Morocco, is not ready to meet the requirements necessary for an event of this scale.

According to available information, a lack of preparation by Morocco in several key areas, including infrastructure, logistics and organization, would have led CAF to consider drastic measures. A crucial meeting is scheduled in Cairo on February 1, 2025 to assess the situation and define responsibilities. This meeting will bring together senior officials of CAF and the parties involved in the organization.

Morocco, which nevertheless enjoys a solid reputation for organizing sporting events, seems to be in difficulty this time. Faced with this situation, CAF plans to withdraw the organization from the Shereef kingdom to entrust it to another better prepared country. Although the new host country has not yet been officially named, internal sources indicate that CAF will favor a nation with modern and fully operational infrastructure.

This decision could have a considerable impact on the calendar and logistics of the competition. Supporters, participating teams and even sponsors risk feeling the repercussions of this upheaval. However, to preserve the image of the CAN and guarantee an event that meets expectations, CAF seems determined to take all necessary measures.

CAN 2025 represents a flagship event for African football, and any decision aimed at ensuring its success will be closely scrutinized. February 1, 2025 will mark a turning point in this matter, and the continent eagerly awaits the conclusions of the meeting.
