France coach Didier Deschamps has reiterated his position on the international future of Kylian Mbappé.
Deschamps confirmed his decision not to include Mbappé in his squad for the Blues' Nations League matches this month after missing the October window due to fitness concerns.
The omission made waves again when Deschamps explained after the list was announced that after a conversation with the Real Madrid star, he had decided not to call his captain.
This has once again reignited debate over Mbappé's long-term commitment to France after assuming the captaincy in 2023.
Deschamps has also sought to reduce excessive attention to his talisman, to allow the attention to subside, as he returns in 2025.
Kylian Mbappé in difficulty
Deschamps has had to face questions about his absent captain, and he has doubled down on his confidence in Mbappé.
“There is no reason to think that he will not return to his best level. I want it and I don’t see why he wouldn’t,” said in an interview with Téléfoot, via Diario AS.
“He is going through a difficult period, but he has everything to get back to his best form.
“You tell me I'm crazy to play him as a center forward, but his last two club coaches made him play up front. He doesn't have the profile of Olivier Giroud, so it depends on the team we play against. »
France can secure first place in Group 2 of League A with a victory in Milan, but they are already qualified for the quarter-finals.
