Two matches on the program this afternoon in D1 ACFF. After the Mons demonstration against Binche and the Olympic victory this Saturday, Excelsior Virton was under pressure.
To stay on the podium and in the wheel of RAEC Mons and Olympic Charleroi, Excelsior Virton had only one solution: go and win in Stockay. Quicker said than done, despite the irregularity of the Liégeois who alternate victories and defeats in recent weeks.
The Gaumais led twice during this meeting, first counting on a new goal from Florentin Pogba (his 4th of the season from his central defender position!) in the first period, then on a penalty from Mokdad in the 64th minute.
At the very end of the match, we thought that Stockay would frustrate Excelsior, managing to equalize via Qendrim Bakija, scorer of his 7th goal in 13 D1 ACFF matches, in the 89th minute. But at the very end of the match, in stoppage time, the great talent Bilel Hassaini made it 2-3 (90th + 2). With this victory, Virton remains on the podium.
A little lower in the ranking, Rochefort hosted the youngsters from Charleroi. Here too, the visitors led twice, with goals from Quentin Benaets (who we have already seen three times on the A team bench this season) and Ahmed Mulumba. But a self-goal allowed Rochefort to continue its unbeaten streak, which extends to 6 matches in the league.
In the ranking, the Zébra Elites and Rochefort are therefore standing still, remaining 6th and 7th, two points apart from each other. All their pursuers (with the exception of… the SL 16) in fact lost this Saturday (read here).
