The coach of SM Caen, Nicolas Seube, reacts to his team’s victory against C’Chartres Football (0-4) this Saturday, November 16, 2024 and to their qualification for the eighth round of the Coupe de France.
No time to savor: the next L2 championship match against Rodez AFthis Friday, November 22, at the Stade Michel d’Ornano is already in everyone’s heads. Interview.
On the match against C’ Chartres Football
“We are off to a very good start. We have scored quickly about the situations we had.”
We were ultra-efficient. I also found our team very impactful in the pressing, technically armed on a pitch that was not easy. The second half also slowed down as the score was established.
“This gave us allowed to rotateto integrate young people into training to reward them for their daily work. It is a satisfaction to be qualified for the next round and it is, for me, the best way to prepare for the next match.”
“We had no pressure for results given the result at half-time. Some were able to catch up on an athletic level. Like Mathias [Autret, ndlr] who was returning from injury. Others who play a little less and who have had some playing time. I hope we have was able to gain confidence since in Metz, success eluded us, we did not gain weight and, there, the attackers scored. And, with a goal conceded in four matches, we also regulate ourselves. There are a lot of positive things.
On the next match against Rodez AF
“We have to recover well now, have a good training session and Friday is an important match in the league against an opponent who has just won by five goals in the league [contre le FC Annecy ; 5-1, ndlr]. Even if they have just experienced a disappointment in the Coupe de France with many absentees [élimination par Angoulême ; 2-1 ; ndlr]we must not forget it.
It will be a difficult and contested match. Remember last year: Rodez was one of the opponents who hurt us the most.
On the new Robin Verhaeghe and Gabin Tomé…
“I’m happy for them. They were already adventure in Gambardella and that makes two more joining the pro group. That highlights the work of training educators. Thanks to these younger generations, the club exists at the highest level. I am happy to highlight this project. I had today [samedi, ndlr]six or seven players who were on this course. On the next round of the Cup…: “I would like it to be Maladrerie”
“It will either be Seine-Maritime or the neighborhood! I wish it was Maladrerie so that we can highlight the clubs that are part of our partnership. It would be nice to have a football party in the context of the Coupe de France !
