The general assembly of the Martinique Athletics League (LMA) is scheduled for Friday, November 15 at the Institut Martiniquais du Sport (IMS). President Claude Chéry is not a candidate for succession. Two lists will be opposed: one led by Marie-Christine Cazier and the other, by Hugues Parsemain.
This Friday, November 15, the representatives of the clubs affiliated with the Martinique Athletics League will have to choose the list to take over from the outgoing president – Claude Chéry – who is not running for re-election.
An elective general assembly with one certainty, the election of a member of a Lamentin club as president of the league. In competition, against forty clubs, two heads of the lists, Marie-Christine Cazier licensed at the La Cigogne du Lamentin club and the president of the athletics section of Aiglon, Hugues Parsemain.
Since 2016, this is the first election with 2 lists, an opportunity for clubs to make a choice, some speak directly “democracy”.
For Marie-Christine Cazier, candidate and head of the list “Renewal of the athletics league 2024 – 2028”, several points need to be developed “work hand in hand with the clubs to restore the League’s attractiveness and strengthen its long-term future… create the conditions conducive to sustainable and efficient development.”
The head of the list “Renewal of the athletics league 2024 – 2028″ welcomes “the possibility for clubs to have the choice”since the two lists are concurrent.
Without money, unfortunately, we cannot live. It’s true that there are rumors that the CTM did not pay the money and that the Martinique Meeting was expensive. What I see today is that the secretary is being fired for cause economic and behind it we announce 150,000 euros in profits… For me, if I am elected, I will ask for a financial audit.

Member of the outgoing steering committee of the league, Hugues Parsemain intends, in the event of becoming president, “strengthen local management”.
Support clubs in the training of managers, coaches, and above all be able to go to the Caribbean, with conferences so that our coaches who have athletes who have already reached a high level, can improve further and reach the very high level.
Hugues Parsemain, lead candidate on the “Synergy and Perspectives” list
At the start of the new Olympiad, there are numerous projects with a line of work structured around 11 themes. Among them, “improve the level of competitions and the detection of talents, the development of high level and internationalization, the medical and paramedical monitoring for clubs and champions”, with this desire to domicile the best athletes in Martinique.
When I was a member of the steering committee of the French athletics federation, I saw that there were many Martinican athletes who were mutated when they reached a certain level, I think that it is not good for clubs. In my opinion, we must do everything to keep these champions in Martinique, to make them professionals and give them a status with a professional salary according to their level… and there, we will keep our best athletes.
Supporting athletes is a priority for Hugues Parsemain and his running mates. If the high level is important for the showcase, they want to emphasize “the quality of the supervision” for the benefit of athletes.
It’s very important for the high level… for the youngest, we must go and find our champions in Basse-Pointe, Sainte-Anne, Vauclin, Morne-Rouge, Lamentin, François, Robert, in fact everywhere. We must seek out these young people who are perhaps in schools with our technicians in the development of athletics, it’s fundamental. We don’t work without clubs.
The 39 clubs and associations affiliated with the LMA will have to choose between two projects. These clubs have a potential of 75 votes, votes distributed according to the number of licensees in each club.
The Golden-Star is the club with the most votes (6) and this Friday a new era should begin with certainly a new president at the head of the league.
