Sean Higgins, the individual who is accused of mowing down the two brothers in a car while allegedly intoxicated, appeared briefly in court.

The Gaudreau family was present at the hearing. It was the first time that the Gaudreau clan and the 44-year-old defendant faced each other in court. Previously, the driver had participated in the hearings virtually.

Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, 31 and 29 years old respectively, were killed near their childhood home on August 29 in New Jersey. It was the day before their sister’s wedding. The two victims were on bicycles.

The Crown alleges Higgins was intoxicated after drinking about six beers before getting behind the wheel.

After the court hearing, the Gaudreau family declined to comment on the case.
