National coach Walid Regragui summoned the striker from the French club , Zakaria Aboukhlalin order to replace Elias Akhomachinjured, indicated Tuesday, November 12, in a press release, the Royal Moroccan Federation (FRMF).

The Moroccan international, who left the field on a stretcher during his team’s victory against Alavés (3-0), “suffers from a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and a sprain of the internal lateral ligament of his knee right”, specified the Spanish club Villarreal on the social network X.

Zakaria Abou Khlal (24 years old) has scored four goals this season in eleven matches played with Toulouse.

Walid Regragui has called up 26 players in anticipation of the Moroccan selection’s matches against Gabon on November 15 in Franceville, and Lesotho on November 18 at the Oujda Stadium of Honor.

These two meetings are part of the 5th and 6th days of the qualifiers (group B) of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) which will take place from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026 in Morocco.

Regragui will hold a press conference this Tuesday (6 p.m.) at the Mohammed VI football complex in Salé, followed by a training session open to the press during the first fifteen minutes.
