Algeria Football – Anwar El Ghazi (Morocco), the current player of the Welsh club, Cardiff City, receives serious threats from a supporter who comes from Israel.
Anwar El Ghazi, footballer of Moroccan origin playing for Cardiff City, revealed a hateful message received on social networks, in which an individual who comes from Israel utters insults and death threats against him and his family, this message qualifies El Ghazi (Morocco) as a “terrorist” and calls for extreme violence against those close to him, illustrating a marked and worrying hostility.
El Ghazi, not wishing to let such attacks go unpunished, published this message on his “X” account (formerly Twitter) to publicly expose the violence of the comments received and denounce the relentlessness suffered. “This message is just one example of the hatred I receive,” he said, highlighting the climate of hostility he faces.
The player also points out a “double standard” in the media treatment of such incidents. According to him, if the roles were reversed, with an Arab sender targeting an Israeli target, the accusations of anti-Semitism would have sparked widespread outrage and significant media coverage. On the other hand, he notes, when it comes to hate speech against Muslims, reactions remain discreet.
Recalling that he had recently won a lawsuit against the German club Mainz, which had fired him for his support for Palestine, El Ghazi shows that he is not abandoning his convictions. After receiving 1.7 million euros in compensation, he decided to donate 500,000 euros to support projects intended for children in Gaza, thus affirming his solidarity.
