What a big disappointment awaits Joaquin Seys. The FC Bruges full-back was injured this Sunday against Beerschot, and is therefore likely not to be part of the national team…
There was a curse on the Belgian players this weekend. It first hit two young talents who could have played a big role with the Espoirs on Friday, during the play-off match for the Euro U21 against the Czech Republic: Mika Godts and Christaan Ravych came out injured, respectively against FC Twente and Anderlecht.
But Swerts will not be the only one deprived of players. Domenico Tedesco also saw a Red Devil get injured, and in a rather deprived position. Indeed, this Sunday evening, during Beerschot-Club of Bruges, Joaquin Seys came out fifteen minutes from the end, in tears.
Killian Sardella’s chance?
Tears which do not necessarily mean that the Bruges full-back, scorer this Sunday, will be absent for many months, but rather that he was aware of the catastrophic timing of his injury. Indeed, Seys was called up for the first time by Tedesco, as a reward for his XXL start to the season on the right flank with Bruges.
Barring a small miracle revealed by the scanners (we will know more this Monday), Seys, who had to be carried to the locker room, will not join the Red Devils in Tubize for his premiere. It’s a big blow for the player.
The misfortune of the Bruges resident could, however, bring happiness… to an Anderlecht resident: Killian Sardella did not hide his disappointment after the RSCA’s big victory at the Cercle de Bruges (read here). It remains to be seen if Tedesco will call him back and thus weaken the Hopes a little more.
