Gervonta Davis retains WBA lightweight world title

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the American Gervonta Davis retained his title of WBA lightweight world champion. He beat his compatriot Frank Martin by knockout.

American Gervonta Davis retained his WBA lightweight world title by beating his compatriot Frank Martin by KO on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Facing Martin, who was previously undefeated with 18 victories in as many fights, Davis used his power to dominate his opponent before sending him to the mat in the eighth round.

After pushing Martin back into the ropes with a succession of blows, “Tank” used a devastating left hook which definitively put his 29-year-old compatriot out of contention at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

This success allows Gervonta Davis, 29, to increase his invincibility to 30 victories (30-0), including 28 by knockout.
