Member of Judo Bassin Aveyron, with only two years of practice, Thibaut Dumoulin stands out for his rapid rise in power, even pushing coach Rémy Géraud to accelerate his training on the technical level but also on the moral code of judo (respect, control of oneself, modesty, honor, courage, sincerity, friendship). Last year, for his first year of judo, the federation did not authorize him to participate in official competitions but only in interclub meetings where he excelled by winning his duels by ippon against brown belts.
This year, finally, he was able to gauge his values, particularly at the start of the season at the Grand Prix d’Occitanie in Auch in the orange and green belt cadet category where he reached the final with flying colors in – 55 kg. Two poor performances, at the regional tournament in Toulouse and at the national selection in Cahors, pushed him to think about his combat strategies and also to channel his excessive overconfidence.
The trainer had to move to a higher level by imposing other combat strategies on him. Assimilating very quickly and determined, he applied them recently at the Réalmont regional tournament where he brought back 5 consecutive victories by ippon, 50 points obtained by using subtleties and also by being versatile, attack, counterattack, confusion, choke and key. This is exceptional. He is therefore exempt from accumulating 100 points for the black belt like his predecessors, Lubin Solis and Amélie Stopin.
Having already validated uv4 (value units) and thanks to his personal commitment to the development of judo in Montbazens at the end of May, the black belt will probably be around his waist from the next school year, once the two value units are missing (kata and technical) validated. But the black belt is not the end goal, it is only the beginning. The coach will continue his training on the ethics of judo to properly honor him when he is presented with the black cloth. The coach and the whole club will be behind him to support and encourage him for the seasons to come.
