It was planned, it’s now official. Bronny James was assigned to the Lakers’ G League team this Thursday, while the famous Los Angeles team has just returned from a very complicated road trip.
Bronny James was part of the Lakers’ squad for their last five road games, notably scoring his first points in Cleveland in an emotional comeback. But from now on, LeBron James’ son will be heading to the G League.
As Shams Charania fromESPNBronny is about to join the South Bay Lakers. He will still be in the main group against the Sixers on Friday night, but will normally play in the G League on Saturday, the day of resumption for South Bay in the development league.

This will allow Bronny James to receive much more playing time than with the Lakers, who has only played 13 minutes in four appearances since the start of the NBA regular season.
More playing time, and therefore more opportunities to progress on an individual level, all while being (a little) sheltered from the Angelino spotlight. Spotlights which risk becoming more and more intense given the very poor current dynamics of the Lakers (four defeats in the last five games).
