Bayern Munich plays this Wednesday in the Champions League against Benfica. The Bavarians absolutely must win, otherwise they will find themselves in a very delicate situation.
Authoritarian leader of the Bundesliga with 7 victories in 9 matches and no defeats, Bayern Munich is however floundering in the Champions League.
The club only has three small points in three matches, with a defeat against FC Barcelona (4-1) and against Aston Villa (1-0).
The club is only 25th in the Champions League, meaning virtually eliminated from the competition. This Wednesday, against Benfica, Bayern is already playing very big.
Vincent Kompany does not panic before Benfica
“The situation is clear: we probably need to win six matches to get into the top 8. I am absolutely not panicking, because we have two away matches to play. Only at the end we will look at the ranking,” Kompany said at a press conference.
“We want to approach every match like a final. So when we get to the final, we will see it as a normal match,” continued a very ambitious Kompany, as usual.
