Top 14 – Jean-Noël Spitzer extends at Vannes until 2028

Jean-Noël Spitzer is committed to the long term in . RC has just formalized the extension of its historic coach for three additional seasons.

He was a desired coach, but he chose continuity. Jean-Noël Spitzer and Vannes, it’s a love story that lasts again and again. The Morbihan coach is extending his adventure in his long-time club for three more seasons, until 2028.

With this choice, the Breton manager is once again part of the RCV project. At the head of the club since 2005, when he was in a partnership with Goulven Le Garrec, the former third row has never stopped mixing his future with that of his lifelong club. Starting from Fédérale 2, he led his club to the French first division, the Top 14, which he and his club discover for the first time this season.

This extension is a real message sent to other elite teams. Indeed, with his performances at the head of the Vannes team, Spitzer was approached by Castres to take over from Jérémy Davidson, who will ultimately be replaced by his deputy Xavier Sadourny.

In the end, it was nothing for the one who was voted best Pro D2 staff last year. Its president Olivier Cloarec is delighted with this choice: “I am very happy and proud of Jean-Noël Spitzer’s extension, which is part of a sustainable performance objective. For different reasons and despite numerous requests, his choice fell on the Vannes project and the many challenges that await us. I can only rejoice about it. With him, accompanied by all the players, club employees, our supporters and partners, we experienced great collective emotions forever engraved in our hearts. We will experience many more during these next three seasons. Together, we will continue to structure the Club Vannes with the ambition of perpetuating the club, and with it all of Brittany, within the elite of French rugby.”

“I didn’t feel like leaving”

The Vannes coach also justified his decision in the official press release: “I have the feeling that the club continues, again and again, to grow and progress. […] Feeling that the club is not stagnating, that it is progressing and that it is always looking to the future was an important element in my decision. Also, even if I wish to reaffirm that we will fight tirelessly to maintain our position, I can assure you that with my entire group we are convinced that we can do it. I am also fully aware that, for a promotion like us, the return to Pro D2 is a probability. RC Vannes is my club, I am strongly attached to it, and morally I did not feel like leaving after a potential descent, that weighed in my choice.” A strong message sent, while the RCV is currently bottom of the Top 14, four units from the Section, first non-relegation.
