Things are going better collectively for the Boston Bruins, but that doesn’t mean everything is swimming in oil, as evidenced by the treatment reserved for forward David Pastrnak by head coach Jim Montgomery on Sunday.
Indeed, number 88 was benched for the entirety of the third period during his team’s 2-0 victory against the Seattle Kraken. His last presence on the ice took place at the end of the second period, when he made a turnover which allowed forward Yanni Gourde to create a big scoring opportunity.

Montgomery wouldn’t give details about his reasons for making this decision, but Pastrnak appears to know them.
“Honestly, I have to be better,” he said in comments relayed by the National Hockey League website on Monday. I take my responsibilities to be better, but at the same time, I have to move forward.
“It was a bad turnaround, so like I said, I take my responsibilities,” continued the Czech. […] I just want to move forward and I don’t want to be a distraction to our team.”
Pastrnak has been the Bruins’ leading scorer since the start of the season, having amassed six goals and five assists for 11 points in 13 games. The Massachusetts club, which has a 6-6-1 record, will be back in action Tuesday night when they travel to Toronto to face the Maple Leafs.
