Algerians forced to play in Morocco?

Algeria The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially set the dates for the first day of the African Champions League and Confederation Cup for the 2024-2025 season. The first day of the Champions League group stages is set for Tuesday, November 26, 2024, while the inaugural matches of the Confederation Cup will be played on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

The matches will take place at three different times: at 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (GMT time). CAF should soon confirm the dates and times of the other days for these competitions.

CAF also confirmed the stadiums of the teams qualified for the group stages of these tournaments. For each club, the stadium designated to host the matches remains unchanged, unless a request for change is made and approved by CAF at least 20 days before the match. This rule aims to ensure effective planning and avoid any disruption in the organization of matches.

For Arab clubs, CAF has designated the following stadiums: in Tunisia, the teams of Club Sportif Sfaxien and Esperance Sportive de Tunis will play at the Stade Hamadi Agrebi in Radès. In Egypt, the clubs Al Ahly, Zamalek, Pyramids and Al-Masry will play their matches in five stadiums: the Cairo International Stadium, the June 30 Stadium, the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria, the Suez Stadium and the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia.

The Moroccan clubs Raja Casablanca, Renaissance de Berkane and AS FAR will benefit from seven stadiums spread across several cities, including the Stade Mohammed V, the Stade Arbi Zoulai in Casablanca, the Stade de Berkane, the Stade de Marrakech and that of the city of Agadir.

The MCA will not be welcomed by Al Hilal in Morocco after all

As for the Sudanese team Al-Hilal, it will play its matches either in Mauritania or in Libya (at the Tripoli International Stadium or at the Benina Stadium in Benghazi). For the Algerian teams, namely USM Alger, CR Belouizdad, MC Alger and CS Constantine, seven stadiums were selected, including the Stade du 5 Juillet, the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers, and others in the cities of Constantine, Annaba and Tizi Ouzou.

Here is the breakdown of the groups for the Champions League: in group A, we find TP Mazembe from the DRC, Young Africans from Tanzania, Al Hilal from Sudan and MC Algiers. Group B includes Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Raja Casablanca and AS FAR of Morocco, as well as Maniema Union of the DRC. In Group C, we find Al Ahly of Egypt, CR Belouizdad of Algeria, Orlando Pirates of South Africa and Stade d’Abidjan of Ivory Coast. Finally, Group D includes Esperance of Tunis, Pyramids of Egypt, Sagrada of Angola and Dugoliba of Mali.

For the Confederation Cup, Group A includes Simba SC of Tanzania, CS Sfaxien of Tunisia, JS Kabylie of Algeria and Bravo of Angola. Group B brings together Renaissance de Berkane from Morocco, Stade Malien, Stellenbosch FC from South Africa and Luanda Soul from Angola. Group C includes USM Alger, ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast, Jaraaf of Senegal and Orapa United of Botswana. In Group D, we find Zamalek and Al Masry from Egypt, Enyimba from Nigeria and Black Bulls from Mozambique.

This organization reinforces CAF’s commitment to ensuring rigorous monitoring and smooth organization of African competitions, thus allowing fans to follow their teams in optimal conditions.
