Discussions between Mārtiņš Sesks and M-Sport pour 2025

In a somewhat dull countryside, any breath of fresh air was welcomed. Mārtiņš Sesks was one of them. European vice-champion in 2023, the Latvian was offered the opportunity to taste the highest international level of rallying. Thanks to M-Sport and partly to the promoter, he was able to take part in three rounds of the WRC, without being afraid of coming up against the big names in the championship.

His first steps were impressive to the point of appearing in the Top 5 for his first Rally in Poland before seeing the podium slip away from him at home in Latvia in the last special due to technical problems. Performances that caught the eye of those in the paddock, particularly at M-Sport.

On the initiative of Mārtiņš Sesks’ debut in Rally1, Richard Millener’s team would not be against the idea of expanding their collaboration. The idea would then be to see him more regularly, perhaps with a complete program in the long term. From 2025? In any case, the two parties met last October during the Central Europe Rally.

« He came to talk about the situationrecognized Richard Millener. I think you know my feelings and those of the team. We would very much like to work with Mārtiņš in the future and he is on a shortlist of drivers we are talking to. What he has achieved with us this season is very impressive and we are aware of it. »

The desire is there. However, the conditions for the deal to be concluded are not simple. Different factors must be brought together, including the budget. No longer having the same support from Ford as in the past, M-Sport depends a lot on the drivers it hires, like the financial guarantees provided in particular by Jourdan Serderidis.

« We need to talk about what he can docontinues the head of M-Sport. I think people understand that we need a budget to get things done. There is a desire to make this work and we are discussing it at the moment. We’ll see what we can do. »
