George Russell will start on the front row of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, after a great performance in the rain. The Mercedes F1 driver, who took his first victory in Brazil two years ago, is happy to see that Formula 1 is so popular at Interlagos, and he likes the format of this day with qualifying and the race.
“I always like being in Sao Paulo, I have good memories there. Yesterday, it was difficult to wait and see the fans standing in the rain. But at 6 a.m., arriving at the circuit, I Since everyone was lining up and waiting, I’m happy to be second.” Russell said.
“I like it honestly, it reminds me of karting days. You get up, have breakfast in your wetsuit and then go racing. Maybe they should think about this format for the future, maybe- be that it’s the one we need. We’re going to try to have a good race.”
Lewis Hamilton was eliminated in Q1 and will be 15th at the start, or even a little higher if drivers cannot start after the qualifying accidents. The seven-time world champion is not optimistic about his Sunday: “I’m not going to be negative. It is what it is.”
“I have no hopes for the race, I’m just going to do what I can. With the car I have right now, it’s the worst I’ve ever driven, so I probably won’t get very far with. Maybe I’ll start from the pit lane, I don’t know, we’ll see.”
