Arzens: tribute to Bernard Palacios, great servant of football

Bernard Palacios, emblematic president of Étoile sportif Arzenaise, died on November 30, 2023. He had devoted more than 25 years of his life to the service of football in general, and to local football in particular. Football was his passion, his life, his family. What a joy to see a president so energetic, so invested, so attentive. A real entertainer, but with a winning temperament!

History will remember him above all as the great “builder” of this club in every sense of the word. In 1984, so that football in Arzens could emerge, he decided to build structures worthy of the ambition he had for “his” club. The materials were provided by the municipality; the construction work of the changing rooms, showers and toilets, Bernard made it his business with some of his footballer friends like him.

After having succeeded in his sporting project (champion of the Aude first division promotion in 1991), after long years of volunteering, convinced of having allowed the Star to be perpetuated, a little blunted, he will then pass the hand to Christian Olive asking him to follow his path.

Jean-Claude Pistre, the mayor and several members of the municipal council, have just unveiled the plaque which pays tribute to him, affixed to the locker rooms. They had invited the family of Bernard Palacios and the current representatives of the football club for the occasion. A delicate attention, a fair recognition, a beautiful tribute to this great servant of Arzen football.
