While he has still not set a single toe on an NBA floor this season, Joel Embiid is nevertheless making headlines. After a notable outing against Philly fans, the former MVP got into a fight with a journalist last night.

What a complicated start to the season for the Sixers. Only one victory for four defeats, the latest one last night against the Grizzlies of Bastien Fontanieu Jay Huff, and a Paul George / Joel Embiid duo who still has not put on the jersey.

Exactly, Joel Embiid let's talk about it. After the match against Memphis, we learned through Keith Pompey that the pivot allegedly attacked a journalist in the locker room.

Oh, boy, people will remember the Sixers season for all the wrong reasons. The team just dropped to 1-4 and Joel Embiid assaulted a reporter in the locker room.

Information confirmed and completed by Shams Charania. The ESPN insider reveals that Joel Embiid did not “hit” a journalist, already good news, but that he allegedly had a verbal altercation with Marcus Hayes. The latter published an article against the multiple All-Star in which he mentioned his deceased brother.

76ers’ Joel Embiid got in an altercation with a columnist following tonight’s game in Philadelphia. Embiid took issue with a recent column that referenced his late brother and son, and Embiid shoved the columnist. No punch.

Here are a few lines from the said paper to give you your opinion on the matter:

“Joel Embiid often says it would be nice to leave a legacy for his son, who has the same first name as his brother, Arthur, who died in a car accident when Embiid was in his first year with the 76ers.

To be good at your job, you should start by coming. Joel Embiid is good when you have to do the opposite [à savoir manquer des matchs].”

A more than problematic formulation which logically displeased the 76ers pivot. Paul George's new best friend is already in the spotlight because of his absences. It would have been better to mention this point without bringing the superstar's deceased brother back to the table. Data that is not super relevant in this context.

This is precisely what the Franco-American-Cameroonian criticized Marcus Hayes.

“You can say I’m rubbish. You can say whatever you want about me as a player, but never talk about my brother. Don’t talk about my family or involve them in this.” Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid to the reporter:

“You can say I suck, you can say whatever you want about me as a player.

Don’t ever put my dead brothers name in your mouth…don’t talk about my family, don’t bring them into this”

Shams Charania also added that the NBA was aware of these events and that an investigation had begun.

To be continued…
