Solidarity goes beyond Spanish borders: a large collection of donations is being organized in Fleurus, here’s how to help

In the devastated neighborhoods of Valencia, solidarity is being organized with many Spaniards who have traveled sometimes hundreds of kilometers to come and lend a hand. A solidarity that also goes beyond borders and spreads to Belgium. In Fleurus, near Charleroi, a convoy is planned for Monday, it will head towards . But before that you have to fill it.

After the deadly floods which hit the south-east of Spain, solidarity is being organized to help those affected. A solidarity that is evident there, but which also goes beyond borders and manifests itself at home.

In Fleurus, near Charleroi, Muriel had the idea of organizing a large collection of donations in her house. Muriel is currently in Spain, but it is her friend Nathalie who is taking care of putting everything together. “We need everything that is a basic necessity, such as toothpaste, diapers, shampoo, shower gel, blankets, shoes, clothes… Everything that can be used for the life of all days”she explains to us.

How is this big harvest organized? It is held in Fleurus this Saturday and Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. On Monday, a truck will then come and collect everything between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. “A transporter kindly offered us 15 m3 from his truck, and he will bring everything directly to Valencia”explains Nathalie.

People quickly responded to this call for donations, as our interlocutor confirmed to us. “It’s going very well, I haven’t stopped getting phone calls since this morning and messages on Facebook. The town of Mellet also made a call for donations on its wall, so it’s really nice.”

All donations are stored inside the house. “We are going to try to take the whole corridor, which goes back this way and again here. And we have a room at the very back which will also be used to store donations. And if there is not enough space, we will put elsewhere “We’ll find space elsewhere.”assures Nathalie.
