At Standard, the last few years have been complicated from a financial point of view and Fergal Harkin has had to make do with limited, if not non-existent, resources.
And if the sports director did rather well, he also missed certain golden opportunities, which could have been achieved without any means available. There is in fact a player who is doing well and for whom the Rouches had positioned themselves.
A Liège story
A player who had completed part of his classes at Standard and who would therefore certainly have wanted to be able to shine there with the first team jersey. But it was ultimately with neighboring RFC Liège that he signed and his career took a decisive turn.
With the Sang et Marine, the striker revealed himself to the general public by scoring goals with disconcerting ease but also by making quite impressive offensive and defensive runs. Technical and physical qualities which had not escaped Standard.
Arrived too late
It was when Bertaccini was playing with Thes in Nationale 1 that Standard tried to recruit him for its U23 team. While he was free to sign wherever he wanted, he saw Rouches enter the file too late, when he had already decided to join Liège.
The rest of the story, we know it, the player exploded and landed a transfer to Saint-Trond, who will be present in Sclessin this Saturday with the objective of taking important points. And if Bertaccini can score one or more goals, he will not deprive himself of it.
