14 years later, the Côte d’Amour Marathon is reborn in the Guérande peninsula

14 years since a marathon had not taken the roads of Pouliguen, Croisic and Batz-sur-Mer. The organizers of the new race, OC Sport Ouest and the PGAC, the Presqu’île Guérandaise Athlétic Club, are reinventing a new event. Gone are the old days, now a big loop on foot with La Baule as the arrival and departure point.

For the marathon event, scheduled for this Sunday morning, the 5,000 runners will make a complete tour of the Guérande peninsula, passing in five municipalitiesnamely La Baule, then Le Pouliguen, before going around Batz-sur-Mer and passing through the salt marshes of Guérande. To finish with an arrival in front of the La Baule casino. “A postcard setting“, according to Christophe Nicol, the president of the PGAC. The idea being to pass through the most beautiful corners of the sector to also highlight the local heritage.

13,000 bibs over the entire weekend

In total, six events are planned throughout the weekend, from gallops, races for children, to the marathon and half-marathon on Sunday. 13,000 bibs will be deliveredproof of an already palpable enthusiasm for the first edition. “Everything was booked very quickly“, confides Christophe Nicol. “The places were gone in less than a month. Registrations are closed, and for good reason, this kind of festive weekend was missing in the region“.

And who says enthusiasm also means big mobilization to prepare everything. For the marathon event for example, more than a thousand volunteers will be mobilizedin particular to take care of safety and to show the correct direction of the route at different intersections. All the details of the event can be found here.
